Western Air Ltd. was established by husband and wife team, Rex and Shandrice Rolle in 2001. The couple fused their knowledge, experience and passion for aviation to provide an alternative, reliable air transport service to the Bahamian public. Mr. Rex Rolle serves as President & CEO of Western Air and has a United States FAA and Bahamian certified Airline Transport Pilot license and type rating in the Metro III. Mr. Rolle is also a US FAA certified Flight Instructor, Certified Instruments Flight Instructor, and Certified Multi-Engine Instructor with more than 30 years of experience as a professional pilot and aviation executive. His wife, Mrs. Shandrice Woodside-Rolle serves as Vice-President & COO of the airline. As valedictorian of her university class and multiple Dean’s List honoree, Mrs. Rolle offers her International Business knowledge and skills to the organization facet of the airline. Today, Western Air's fleet consists of five Saab 340As (33 seaters). Western Air is a fully licensed and insured airline that currently operates daily scheduled flights between Nassau, San Andros, Congo Town, Bimini, and Freeport, Grand Bahama. Western Air also has a charter division that offers on-demand charters throughout the Bahamas, Caribbean, Central and South America. The airline is currently the largest privately owned airline in the Bahamas and employs over 140 full time employees. Western Air is headquartered at San Andros International Airport where it owns a state-of-the-art fixed based operation (FBO), passenger terminal, and full service maintenance facility. Additionally, Western Air’s northern hub is located at the Grand Bahama International Airport where the airline recently opened a brand new 32,000 sq. ft. FBO, private passenger terminal and sub-maintenance station.

DOMESTIC FARES AND POLICY

  • All Western Air Tickets are valid for one year.
  • All Western Air Tickets are Non-Refundable
  • All Western Air Tickets are Non-Transferable
  • Passengers must check in a minimum of two (2) hours prior to departure.
  • All Western Air flights close 45 minutes prior to departure
  • Passengers must present a valid picture ID at check in.
  • Western Air will be happy to change or cancel your reservation up to five (5) hours prior to departure. Any change of reservation will be subject to a $25 change or cancellation fee. New reservations will be priced at the lowest available published airfare at the time of the change (which may result in a fare increase).

GENERAL POLICIES & BAGGAGE INFORMATION

  • Please note effective January 1st, 2015, the Bahamas Government Value Added Tax (VAT) of 7.5% will be added to all Western Air goods, services and airport fees. Taxes are included in all Western Air prices. (Please note Western Air’s VAT # 100117000. For more information on VAT, please contact the VAT Department hotline at (242) 225-7280.)
  • Each passenger is allowed 40lbs. of baggage. Baggage in excess of 40lbs but less than 100lbs. will be subject to a charge of $1.80 per pound (VAT included).
  • Second excess bag up to 40lbs or 40” L x 24”W x 18”H will be subject to a charge of $50 (VAT included).
  • Third excess bag up to 40lbs or 40” L x 24”W x 18”H will be subject to a charge of $70 (VAT included)
  • Additional excess baggage more than 40lbs or 40”L x24”W x 18”H but less than 70lbs will be subject to a charge of $100.00 (VAT included).
  • Oversized and overweight bags weighing 70lbs -100lbs or 48”Lx 30”Wx 24”H will be subject to a charge of $125.00 (VAT included).
  • Baggage over 100 lbs. will be shipped as cargo.
  • Excess baggage will be sent on the next available flight.
  • Excess baggage must be paid in cash at the time of check-in.
  • Excess baggage cannot be sent C.O.D. (cash on delivery).
  • Liability for loss, damage, or delay in delivery of passenger-checked baggage shall be limited to proven value of the property, not to exceed $10.00 per lb. per passenger and not to exceed $250.00 in value.
  • Western Air does not provide for or make provisions for passengers to declare a higher valuation on checked baggage above the stated legal limits. It is the responsibility of the passenger to obtain additional insurance coverage, prior to departure. Such coverage can usually be obtained through travel agents, tour operators or independent insurance agents.
  • Western Air accepts no liability for any unchecked baggage including carry-on articles.
  • Money, negotiable paper, securities, vital medicine, jewelry, silverware, precious metal, sporting goods, camera lens and other similar valuables, will not be accepted as checked baggage.
  • Western Air will not be liable for damages resulting from the theft, loss, damage or delay of such valuables which are included in the passengers checked baggage.
  • All medicines must be hand carried by the passenger. Western Air assumes no liability for medical complications and/or expenses resulting in such medicines being included in checked baggage.
  • Western Air will accept cloth, canvas, vinyl, etc. (generally any soft-sided luggage) as checked baggage but accepts no liability due to damage of this type of luggage.
  • Western Air accepts liability for baggages checked in by the passenger who must show a baggage receipt as proof of check-in.

CARGO, EXPRESS MAIL AND PACKAGES

  • Express Envelopes letter size same or next day service $30.00 (VAT included).
  • Express Envelopes legal size same or next day services $45.00 (VAT included).
  • Express envelopes or packages ex-large same or next day service $60.00 (VAT included).
  • Cargo box or cooler less than 40 pounds or 36"L x 24"W x 18"H $70.00 each (VAT included).
  • Cargo box or cooler 40lbs or 40”L x24”W x 18”H but less than 70lbs will be subject to a charge of $100.00 (VAT included).
  • Cargo box or cooler 70lbs to 100lbs or 48”Lx 30”Wx 24”H will be subject to a charge of $125.00 (VAT included).
  • Cargo, express mail and packages will be sent on the next available flight.
  • Cargo, express mail and packages must be paid in cash at time of check-in.
  • Cargo, express mail and packages cannot be sent C.O.D. (cash on delivery).
  • Liability for loss, damage, or delay in delivery of cargo, express mail or packages shall be limited to proven value prior to shipping of the property $5.00 per pound, not to exceed $250.00.
  • Packages delivered to Western Air representatives by 12:00 p.m. will be delivered the same day; after 12:00 p.m. they will be delivered the next day. All delivery is from ticket counter to ticket counter.

INTERNATIONAL FARES & POLICIES

New reservations will be priced at the lowest available published airfare at the time of change, which may result in fare increase.
  • If a reservation is not fulfilled (passenger misses the flight) funds are forfeited unless the reservation was changed or canceled prior to the scheduled departure.

Filing a Claim

Notice of claim on loss, damage, or delay of passenger checked baggage must be made in person and in writing to Western Air or a Western Air representative at the destination airport serviced by Western Air. All damaged baggage, mail and packages must be verified by a Western Air representative before it leaves the airport. Baggage or packages taken from the airport will be considered as having been received in good condition.
